Behind the Scenes at Now Test Prep: Building the Tools Your Student Deserves
We know that test prep is about more than practice questions and score goals, it’s about giving students the right tools at the right time to feel confident and capable in their academic journey.
That’s why this school year, we’ve been hard at work creating a library of internal resources designed to support students and families from day one, not just the week before the test.
From SHSAT to ISEE to SSAT (and beyond), here’s what we’re building and why we started this effort in the first place.
Why We Started Building Internal Resources
Over the years, we've worked closely with students who were bright, motivated, and hardworking but who often felt lost when it came to organizing their study time or knowing how to prepare.
Some families had access to quality tutoring. Others didn’t. Some found online test resources helpful. Others found them overwhelming. What we noticed? Students who had strong systems, study schedules, concept checklists, pacing templates, and review routines were less anxious, more consistent, and ultimately scored higher.
So we asked ourselves:
What if every family had access to the same smart tools we use with our own private students?
That question launched our new initiative to create downloadable, flexible, test-specific resource documents that any student (or parent) could use whether they’re working with us directly or not.
What We’re Creating (And What’s Coming Next)
Our growing resource library is focused on high-impact standardized exams that shape middle and high school admissions, including:
SHSAT (Specialized High School Admissions Test)
ISEE (Independent School Entrance Exam)
SSAT (Secondary School Admission Test)
More in the works:
SAT, ACT, and AP-specific study templates, mock test planners, and student reflection journals to build metacognition and confidence.
These are the same tools our tutors use in 1-on-1 sessions but redesigned for easy self-use at home. Think: parent-guided study plans, printable review checklists, and digital templates you can customize to your child’s pace.
Our Goal: Make Smart Studying Accessible to Every Family
We believe that the best academic growth happens when students are equipped with both expert guidance and the right tools.
That’s why we’re creating resource documents, strategy templates, and study planners designed to work alongside tutoring giving students the structure they need even between sessions. Whether they’re preparing for the SHSAT, ISEE, SSAT, or other high-stakes exams, students benefit most when their preparation is organized, intentional, and consistent.
From mastering pacing to tracking review progress to building confidence with each new concept, our internal tools help extend the impact of tutoring into daily study routines. And for parents, they provide a clear window into the process and a way to stay involved without needing to manage every detail.
In short: our resource hub is built to support both students and families, helping turn test prep from something overwhelming into something manageable, empowering, and results-driven.
Final Thoughts
Success in school isn’t just about raw talent or even hard work. It’s about smart preparation: structure, consistency, and access to resources that make studying clear and manageable.
That’s why we’re not just tutoring students, we’re building a comprehensive hub of test prep tools, study templates, and learning strategies designed for real students with real schedules. These documents are built by educators who know the exams inside and out and who understand the everyday challenges families face. Whether it’s a weekly SHSAT planner, a breakdown of SSAT question types, or an ISEE pacing guide, each tool is built to support your child not just academically, but emotionally reducing stress, building confidence, and creating sustainable habits that carry over into all areas of learning.
Study documents don’t just fill gaps, they prevent them. They help students anticipate what’s coming, reflect on what they’ve learned, and actively engage with material instead of guessing their way through it. They also empower parents to play a more supportive role in the process without needing to micromanage every step.
